As for the house itself, giving the cold climate:
- To enter the house, have two consective doors (you need to go through two doors with a small room between. The heat should stay better inside in that way and prevents chilly winds throughout the house.
- Let the chimney go more noticed through the bedroom. The chimmey gives of heat that warms up the bedroom.
Other than that, that piece about mining the mountains. Somehow I hope you will make a mining village on this island.
Besides, my own project an unnamed 8x8 texturepack (do not expect wonders of it) is slowy taking form. But it will still take awhile as I am planning builds around.
