History
The FV4030/4 Challenger I was first used in 1983 and served until 1990 for the UK, as it is still used by Royal Jordanian Army. It served as a replacement for the Chieftain tanks. Unlike the Chieftains, the Challenger I had composite, or Chobham, armor, which is the same armor the M1 line of tanks utilizes. The FV4030/4 is also known for having the longest recorded tank kill in history, which is more than 3 miles.
Later Variants
The FV4034 Challenger II replaced the Challenger I and is still used today by the UK and Royal Army of Oman
