Let me start of by saying that if you wish to make a texture pack, go for it, although they are not the easiest to make. A good texture pack may take you months. You also need some type of skill and patience to make them. Although the process is easy, just get the terrain.png file and use a program which supports transparency like Photoshop, Fireworks or GImp and start editing.

Although I would highly recommend that you don't make your own rather choosing to use somebodies texture pack.

As for what texture packs you may want to use, here is a list of some good ones:
-Dokucraft The Saga Continues
-Ovo's Rustic Pack
-Sphax PDCraft
-Jolicraft-SummerFeilds
-The Arcane Pack
Those are some good ones which I think could go well in your builds, (Except Sphax, Summerfeilds, I added those for fun.)

Remember all you need to do is go look around, there are alot more good gtexture packs. I listed five although I have used at least fifty. If you ever want any more texture pack help PM me.
