The Gloster Meteor was the first British jet fighter and the only operational allied jet aircraft in world war two.  First flying in 1943 and then operationally in 1944, the Meteor saw limited action.  It was first used to combat the German V1 flying bombs because due to it's speed it could catch them.

In early 1945 the Meteor was deployed into Europe but again, saw limited action as Meteors weren't actually allowed to fly over enemy territory in fear of them being shot down and the aircaft being captured by the Germans or Russians.

Later though, it did see combat with ground attack missions but never did the Meteor come up against the German jet fighter, the Me262.  After the war, the Meteor was built and upgraded into many different versions and saw decades of service with other countries, in total 3947 Meteors were made.


The model here is the Meteor F.3, there are two camo jobs, the basic green and grey camo and also a white meteor - some meteors were painted white to help with identification and to aviod them being mistaken for German Me262's.
