It might be my lack of skill with the 3d-viewer, but I'm unable to descern any function for the redstone dust on the upper level…
Is the lava pit solely a means of disposal, or is there intended to be a basement level beneath it?
the redstone above is more for the resemblance of blood.
the lava pit is covered with honey blocks so it's supposed to stop you from landing on somthing hard. It would have worked better with slimeblocks I think
