Background Story
It is autumn, the leaves are a spectacular array of warm colours, brilliant red, dark crimson and deep yellow. The forest goes on for miles and miles in every direction, a mass of silent wilderness. Nothing but the occasional chatter of an animal or the wail of the wind, disturbs the eerie quiet.A derelict old manor stands alone, in the midst of this overgrown, flooded forest. This mansion stands, slowly rotting infested with vermin. Some say there are malevolent forces in the house, restless spirits. Many passing hikers have seen an pale, almost translucent spectre staring out of the window, a bleak, traumatised expression on her face. The sightings of this dark figure have only been fleeting glances. Some superstitious folk even say that the devil himself roams the gloomy halls of the manor. Most theories arevery exaggerated, but there may be a seed of truth in them. It is known that John Worthingham,an obscenelywealthy and eccentric man, owned the manor back in the late 19th century. Worthingham wanted a retreat, away from the stresses of the city, so he built his large mansion in the remote forests. After John Worthingham died, he left his manor to his eldest son; Derek. Derek was frailand frequentlysuffered from illness, therefore he was an easy target for his envious younger brother, who in a fit of jealousy hacked him to death in the attic of the house. A few months later the younger brother killed himself out of remorse for the murder of his older brother. For five years after that, the house lay abandoned, until the mansion was turnedintoa boarding school. Things were running fine, until one night a homeless psychopath came in and massacred forty children. After that, the school was closed and has never been lived in since.
Information
The mansion is mostly built of wood, but does have some stone features. There is a large tower at the front of the building , a greenhouse attached at the back. The exterior of the house is decorated with exquisite detail and a wide variety of different woods were used. Although I have not yet completed this interior, I am going to release the build incomplete and see what reaction I get from the PMC community. I have also created a 16x16 resource pack to accompany the build. The textures in resource pack are all darkened to give Minecraft a sombre atmosphere, there are also a couple of animated textures in the pack, such as the flickering of the jack 'o lantern and the swaying of tall grass, I have not altered any sounds in it.
