Hms victory is my one of my favourite first rate ships of the line and I actually had an ancestor on her at the battle of Trafalgar which is one of the things that got me into shipbuilding so she holds a special place in my heart and o hope I can go to see her someday and walk the same decks as my ancestor did. Anyway let’s talk history his majesty’s ship victory was launched in 1765 but wasn’t commissioned until 1778 for the Anglo French war where she fought at the first battle of Ushant and then she served in the American Revolutionary War at the second battle of Ushant and cape spartel then in the war of the first coalition at the battle of cape st Vincent and finally at the battle of Trafalgar in the Napoleonic wars she was also used in the war of 1812 she was last used as a “serious warship” in 1830 she was then laid up and had a couple of close calls and was almost scrapped but was saved she was put in dry dock in 1922 and under went major repairs she was hit by a 500 pound bomb in ww2 she was finally finished restoration in 2005 but she in now under going more major repairs she is also the oldest commissioned warship anywhere in the world
