Behold the Holy Minster of the Sanctified Heart of the Incarnate Christ!

The villagers completed the south transept first - hence it retains an older feel, with darker interior furniture. The more modern north transept, completed after the villagers experienced a kind of reformation, was completed with adult baptism by immersion in mind; hence the full-size adult baptistry. The cloisters are, unusually, to be found on the north side of the cathedral, but this is not without precedent (for example, Gloucester Cathedral), and they retain the monks' dormitories and refectory. There are four side chapels at the east end, accessed through the aisles, and the chapter house is also accessed from the south aisle just east of the crossing. The cathedral has four supporting towers at the corners where the transepts intersect with the nave and the choir, and you can actually climb up through their supporting buttresses to access the central tower, which sports a glass walkway beneath the ceiling. Every part of the cathedral, from the triforium and clerestory to the roof spaces, can be accessed by spiral staircases (there are eight in total, not counting the two wooden ones in the western towers and the wooden one at the top of the steeple). Two large iron bells hang inside the belfries in the western towers. I'm considering building a second wall around my town to encircle the cathedral, and then lighting it fully and introducing the villagers (particularly clerics and librarians).

This started out as a fun survival project, but rapidly became something much more - as with real cathedrals, every part of the design is layered with rich symbolism, from the spacing of the pews to the design of the central tower. The ceiling of the nave was completed with polished diorite to make it feel as light and airy as possible - would've used quartz blocks, but it would've taken far too long to dig it out of the nether. In retrospect the walls could have been thicker, particularly the base of the buttresses and the western towers, and I placed the western front far too close to my town wall. On the other hand, I'm particularly pleased with the choir, the east window, and the interior of the central tower. If, as you look at the images of this cathedral, your mind is drawn to the beauty and holiness of Christ, then my work will not have been in vain.

Personally, I think it's heart-achingly beautiful, but then I would say that as the one who built it - I'd like to know what you think!

I'm a sucker for cathedrals and other huge structures, and considering this is a survival project this is absolutely astounding! Well done! :)
