The iPhone is intended for 1.7 and does not fully function in minecraft 1.8. Downgrade to any minecraft 1.7 version and it should work perfectly.

The video is slightly out of date and is missing some of the new features added, but it still shows some of the main functions and how to use the iPhone.

This is my new Interactive iPhone. It was made using the recently added command block features in 1.7. The iPhone has twenty six functional applications which include some of the default iPhone applications, and five games; Slot Machine, The Impossible Game, Paint, Blackjack, and Bomb Defuse. The iPhone has two playable songs, listed in the section below, located in the Music app.

To wake the iPhone press either the home button or the sleep button (the sleep button will also put the iPhone to sleep when it is on). There is an active minecraft full day cycle clock on the lock screen as well as a sliding arrow. Walk across the arrow and it will slide along with you. Be sure to stay within the border of the arrow or you may have to retry it. From there, create a four digit passcode by stepping anywhere on the numbers. The iPhone will then automatically unlock, and you are now free to choose between any of the apps by clicking anywhere on them, or between any of the three pages via the page indicators above the bar.

You can fully customize the four digit passcode by going into the settings app and pressing the fifth option. The iPhone will then prompt you for a new combination one digit at a time and will save this new combination. If you exit out in the middle of entering a new passcode, the current digits you entered will have already been saved and the remaining digits will be from the old passcode. You can toggle the passcode on and off by pressing the sixth option. You can also disable the lock-screen clock by pressing the 7th option.

There is a tutorial which can be activated by pressing the tutorial button located below the home button. This is a ~1 minute showcase of some of the iPhone's different features and basics on how to use the iPhone. This tutorial places a redstone block in areas of the screen to simulate the screen being pressed, and to show you where to step when using the iPhone.

While the iPhone is 100% complete for all intents and purposes, I am actively working on enhancing the iPhone with new features and apps. Check back in from time to time to see any new progress. Any feedback and suggestions are always welcome.

If you enjoyed this project feel free to diamond, comment, and subscribe!

Additional Notes

The iPhone is designed to fix any possible errors with the redstone that it can. It will alert you when this happens and tell you the likely cause of the bug.

Spamming buttons may cause issues with the iPhone. If something breaks because of this, simply put the iPhone to sleep and unlock it again. Whatever app you were previously on should still be up when you unlock the iPhone, and should then be working again.

Please report any bugs/glitches you have found in the comments section below.

I have a few questions:

1.how many command blocks does this need?

2.how does it know where you're stepping?

3.and can you give it the ability to play Minecraft pocket edition?
  • Peter-
  • Level 56
  • Grandmaster Engineer
  • February 18, 2014, 1:08 pm
It uses just over 25,000 command blocks, but with new commands in 1.8 it could be significantly fewer (maybe 5,000). To check for touches it uses the /testfor command. I don't know much about pocket edition, so I don't know what would have to change for it to be compatible.

Will the 1.8 commands make the redstone smaller? (The clone command?)
  • Peter-
  • Level 56
  • Grandmaster Engineer
  • January 29, 2014, 5:47 pm
Technically they would, but it would take longer to load each screen as the game would have to clone an area and then create it instead of just creating it. It would also need a "memory bank" of sorts with all of the iPhone's screens. It's an interesting idea though.

Haha yeah, it's mainly just setblock and testfor commands in addition to scoreboard commands for wireless signals and logic. The real difficult part of building this was accounting for all the possible actions that a person can make from specific screens, and having the iPhone respond correctly to all of them. I had to re-design the home button about 5 times to finally make it work for all it's different functions.

Wow thanks. They don't seem to be taking credit for it, as they even put my name in the main description as well as a direct link to this page. Plus your video is getting a lot of views, so I guess it's a good thing.
I'd say positive exposure is a good thing. They did a good job. It's remarkable that someone took the time to translate everything. They must've really liked what you did.
when I went to change my password, it said enter first number, then second, but no third? Then I pressed some more numbers and it had saved that, now I can't go on it because of the password! This would be great to fix! Thx

PS I LOVE this iphone and your older one too!

I'm not sure what's causing that, I just tried it and worked fine. To fix this, put the iPhone to sleep and try typing "/scoreboard objectives add home dummy" in your chat-box and that should unlock the home screen so that you can try to change the passcode again. Be sure to wait until you're prompted to enter a digit. Don't press the home button until you change the passcode because the iPhone technically isn't unlocked. Once you enter the new passcode, press the sleep button twice. You can also try re-downloading the map. If this doesn't work tell me again and I'll look into it. Thanks for the feedback :)
I did what you said me to do with the complicated command but it still doesn't say to enter the third digit! It's really a shame, too, because it is an almost-flawless project! Anyway, I waited about 5 minutes and it didn't show up.

I think I have found the glitch. There was a problem with the command block controlling the number 9, so if you tried to enter that for any of the digits in the new combination, then you wouldn't be prompted for the next (The command block wasn't being updated by a redstone clock). The reason I didn't catch this when I was testing it was because I tried a random passcode that didn't include 9, and it worked for that.
Oh, thx! Because by passcode did have the number 9 in it!

Well peter, your pretty damn good knowledge of redstone and amazing patience is overwhelming. I myself, as a redstoner, knows how long it takes for all those goddamn bug fixes, and having used sethbling's filter myself, it's damn annoying. I have no clue how you had the patience to do something like this, and for that, I congratulate you. People out there reading this, you have no clue how tiresome something like this is to make, so hating is just plain stupid. The logic is moderately complex, but the hard parts are the million ways it could go wrong (and no doubt you struggled with formatting the filter and switching back and forth from mcedit) Anyways, I rabbled on long enough, great job, my friend!

Thanks I appreciate it. And yeah bug fixing was a nightmare, I probably ended up adding a hundred or so additional command blocks that I didn't need trying to account for anything and everything. Sethbling's filter wasn't too tough, but it really requires that you completely plan ahead (which I suck at) because if you make even one small mistake you have to redo most of it, though using it was better than the alternative. :)
