Hello everyone,

I'm back! For now, anyway, with a brand new ship for Christmas! This is the Kamikaze-class destroyer of the Imperial Japanese Navy. Commissioned between 1922 and 1925, these vessels were improvements over the previous Minekaze-class. They followed German WWI practice in their design, with the forward torpedo tubes located ahead of the bridge and nestled behind the raised forecastle. They were obsolete by the start of the Second World War and served in more humble roles. For once, the World of Warships model of this ship is accurate and I was able to follow it closely without having to fix errors in the way she has been depicted in the game.

You may have noticed, however, that she does not sport a camouflage that she does wear in-game. This is for three reasons. 1) Very few Japanese warships actually wore camouflage during the war and this ship was not one of them. 2) The camouflage was very complex, probably too much so for the scale of the ship and would look too messy and I had no scale images of the camouflage as a reference (because it did not wear a camouflage). 3) I do not possess enough shades of the right green colours to make it look good (lol).

Otherwise, I'm very happy with how she turned out. My first Japanese warship and the oldest destroyer design I've built so far. I hope everyone likes it! The armament for the ship is as follows and is how she was originally fitted out to be, apart from the additional depth charge throwers fitted in 1939:

4 x 120mm/45 3rd Year Type (Model 1914) Guns [4 x 1]
2 x 7.7mm/80 Type 92 (Model 1932) Machine Guns [2 x 1] (These were on the original ship, despite their model year, these guns actually entered service in 1921)
6 x 533mm Torpedoes [3 x 2]
4 x Depth Charge Throwers (18 Depth Charges)
20 x Mines & Mechanical Minesweeping Gear

There you have it! I hope you like the ship and there will be more coming at some point, but of course, it's Christmas so there won't be anything this month I'd have thought. Anyway, keep an eye out for more and thanks for your support so far.

Cheers,

MCMG
