KingdomWars is a Capture-the-Flag PVP game in Minecraft that focuses on not just battle but building a defensive castle around your flag. Inspired by The Walls by rezz and The Survival Games by Vareide. The game is won by breaking the other team's flag, or Royal Block as we like to call it.

I designed the map with about 20 people per team in mind for big, epic battles, but we've found that with as few as 2 players per team you can have fun skirmishes.

Rules:

Don't go out of the arena, including the Nether.

There are two classes: Builders and Brawlers.

• Builders can only use leather armor, stone and wood tools, and can't mine ores. (Can also use fishing rods, shears, etc.)
  
• Brawlers can't place anything but torches and planks and can't use crafting tables or furnaces.
  

Deaths can be handled by letting the player return to their base and jump right back in, by having a 5 or 10 minute time-out in the spawn area, or by completely removing them from the game, depending on how big your game is.

For smaller games, 10 minutes of prep time can help players build better defenses and not have their flag be destroyed immediately. This is a built in setting with our Bukkit plugin.

While these rules may seem limiting, it forces your team, even if it's a random group of players, to work together with a unique, fun team dynamic. Builders stay at base with light defensive armor and construct castles and traps to guard their royal block. Brawlers mine resources and go out to attack the other team.
