La Coquille is a barge-built stables witch was build in La Seyne-sur-Mer in 1811
It first sailed in the Mediterranean Sea, of shore the coast of North Africa and Spain.
Once rehabilitated and refurbished for long journeys, this three-masted tonnage of 380 tons and carrying fourteen guns was reclassified corvette.
Renamed L'Astrolabe while leaving Toulon at April 10, 1826, under the command of Jules Dumont d'Urville
the old ship is decomissioned in August 1851 and scrapped in Toulon in May 1852.
