The Lockheed Model 10 Electra was a twin-engine, all-metal American airliner first flown in 1934. Designed by the Lockheed Aircraft Company, it featured a low-wing monoplane design with retractable landing gear and could carry about 10 passengers. The Electra became famous as the aircraft flown by Amelia Earhart during her attempted around-the-world flight in 1937. It was used by airlines and militaries around the world and helped establish Lockheed as a major aircraft manufacturer.
