An introduction to MessyMedieval:

Some call it a style, but it's an ideology of having dense meaningful detail.

The three aspects of any good build should be 'structural integrity', 'meaningful detail' and 'aesthetical detail'.

In each type of build, you'd research what'd be present, what would people use within the confines of the build and you try to represent that, in a visually pleasing manner. It also means the structures themselves need to appear where you'd expect them to be and build to fit the landscape around them, naturally. Symmetry is often left behind for a more natural appearance as it mostly occurs in real life.
