The Minaret of Samarra
The Malwiya (Arabic for “twisted”) Minaret of Samarra was constructed in 848–852 of sandstone and is known for his spiral conical design of 54 metres (171 ft) high. This unique design is said by some to be derived from the architecture of the Mesopotamian ziggurats.
