I've been working on a few large projects like this for a while now and wanted to share this one as either something for you to put in your world or for you to learn from and get new ideas to make your own.
This is a Twenty One floor mob grinder. In each of those floors, mobs will spawn and wander into a current and be washed down into the room at the bottom to be burned to death by lava and drop their items to be further channeled off into the one collection point in the center.
The download link is a schematic of the grinder which you can place into your world through mcedit.
