I had the idea to recreate the Mojang Logo in Minecraft while I was playing online with my brothers. I convinced them to help me and we finally started once I got a good picture of the logo and loaded it into PhotoShop so I could mark it pixel by pixel. The logo is 75 pixels by 75 pixels.
I loaded up a random new map that had no seed and I started right where I spawned.
Since I know the worlds have a maximum build height, I started to build one block up from the surface until it stopped and counted how many blocks there where available. It could go 63 blocks above land. That meant I needed to dig 12 blocks below the surface, plus another 1 so the structure wasn't connected to the ground.
I then dug and mined the ground. I made the initial pit 77 blocks by 3 blocks so there was space all around the bottom line of the structure. I eventually made it 81 blocks by 5 blocks. Unfortunately the land I started on was a small sandy peninsula and I had to dig sand from other locations to fill in the surrounding water to make the land large enough to make a huge pit without water flowing in.
I decided that I needed to make steps leading down into the pit in order to see the structure from a far distance. Each step was made 2 blocks long. This part took the longest amount of time to complete.
Once the foundation was complete, I spent a lot of time switching back and forth between Minecraft and PhotoShop to make sure I placed the blocks down correctly for the logo. Although this was the most technical part, it didn't take much time in relation to the rest of the project.
The materials I used for the logo were white wool and red wool. It took forever to dye enough wool to make the red parts of the structure. The only other materials used were the stone and sand to complete the foundation's base.
Tell me what you think about this pixel art project and make suggestions as to what you want to see me do!
