1) Instead of /killing the renamed mob, teleport it way under the void. Not only does this remove the annoying death animation and particles, but it also doesn't drop the mob's loot.
2) For the knockback wand, you should add an attribute modifier to make it so that it does absolutely no damage, even with a strength buff, but it still will apply the knockback effect.
