Nestled into a mountain is the fortress of the mad king. Long ago, convinced one of his closest was planning to betray him, he ordered the construction of a secret castle. Carefully watching the architects and even doing some planning of his own, he worked for years to perfect his design. The upper levels were mostly free from his meddling, and therefore more sensical. But as the project progressed, he took a greater interest in the design. A labyrinth of underground rooms lurks in the underbelly of the mountain.

Finally, it was finished. Carved into the mountain was his fortress, his home. In fear, he fled to it and from there ruled his kingdom with an iron fist. Fear grew among the peoples he commanded, as his demands grew ever harsher and even more nonsensical.

Suddenly, one day, the people stopped hearing from him. No messages came in or out. Fearful of what they may find, blood or enemies or even greater madness, a small band of adventurers journeyed to the mountain. Deep inside they found...

...nothing. All the soldiers, servants, and even the king were gone. Completely deserted. Where did they go? Nobody knows.

This is cool a really good story the mountain doesn't look to bad some grass blocks on top like the other comment said would look more natural. But i think you wrote such a beautiful story you could put a few quests in your map  to complement the story. But great stuff

Thank you sir! I have been wanting to do some work with armor stands, maybe I'll figure out a way to incorporate them into this...

Nice story! The mountain looks a bit unnatural (is it supposed to?), but otherwise good work!  X )

Parts of it were supposed to look like men did stuff with it, hence unnaturalness, but most wasn't. I'd chalk it up to my own inexperience. This is my first time making a mountain. Just so I can get better, what parts look unnatural to you?

The waterfall's good, but I haven't seen any water pools in minecraft yet (normally it's 1-2 water blocks in a cliff face). The mountain also looks a bit geometric and reminds me of a sand pile (constant-ish steepness laa around). A minecraft mountain would probably not be 100% stone, from what I observed, the top ~3 layers are normally dirt/grass; another idea would be snow ...
For the first time it's still impressive and the building-like structures were identifyable. It seems like a lot of critigue (sorry), but good job!

For the water, I tried that, but then there were several random spots that ended up dry, so I added in some more source blocks along the way.

It does sorta look like a sandpile. A gray one. Which brings me to your other remark. That's true, there probably would be block variability. Definitely something I'll take into mind next time I build one of these. Like the snow idea.

Don't worrry about it! Critique is how we get better. Thanks for taking the time to look this over and help me out!
