This is just what I feel about villages having as buildings, however, when a hill or such interrupts it's generation, it will overwrite the land for space, while still smoothing the land around it so it doesn't look bad. Or even just have deserts/plains have a separate village id, such as VillageDesert or VillagePlain so it's made sure that the land around the village doesn't interrupt the village. But anyway, that's just an idea. An album of screenshots I've made, and put in a nice order, can be found here.
