I think you just discovered a bud switch. There really doesn't seem to be anything too spectacular about it. any block update caused to the piston holding the red block has them reset. so break a block around the piston, place a torch, push a button, anything that interacts with the piston will cause the BUD switch to work.

i knows but i haven't seen anyone use a BUD switch like this before. so i showed it to the world
