This is a 2:1 scale model of the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, including the surrounding buildings and landscaping. It is the product of hundreds, if not over 1000 hours of work over four years.
I have gone to great lengths to ensure every area and detail is as accurate as possible. After spending countless hours planning, studying photos and plans, watching videos, and doing other research, I can say for certain that this must be the most accurate and detailed replica ever created. Every one of the 150+ stained glass windows was modeled on the real window in its place, as were the 37 uniquely decorated side chapels and dozens of murals, paintings, statues, and more. Even the usually inaccessible spaces, such as the wooden framing in the roof and bell towers, have been recreated very closely to the originals thanks to obscure photos and videos I was able to find. The surrounding areas, too, were carefully planned out and built as accurately as possible. The landscaping, streets, and building façades are all very close to their originals. The landscaping around Notre Dame has changed a bit in the past 15 years, so in some instances it is not current----different areas have been built in the ways I was able to find the best documentation for, but everything is as it was at some point.

This project was started in August 2016 and completed in December 2020.

A word of thanks to mappinggothic.org and mcah.columbia.edu for their collections of photos and documents, and to the other obscure archives of the internet that have aided me.

Feel free to use this for any project, just give credit to creeper2357. If you are making a video, leave a link to this page. Do not alter or copy and claim it as you own!

Many trees were copied or adapted from Eremilion's European and Mangrove Trees pack

Some pictures were taken with the Lively Default texture pack, which I highly recommend.
Renders were made with chunky.
--At 2:1 scale one meter is two blocks long, and the average human would be 3.5 blocks tall.

Update #9 : by creeper2357 12/27/2020 1:58:21 pmDec 27th, 2020

After over 4 years this map is complete. After finishing the cathedral I decided to build the surroundings as well, so this map now covers the entire southeast corner of the Île de la Cité in Paris.

you will "paint" it by replacing most of the gray blocks right?

It is very nice, but the color choice here confuses me. Why is it grey? Notre Dame is made of sand colored ashlar. Wouldn't sandstone or some other similar block be more appropriate?

As a test I replaced the stone slabs with sandstone and added two new pictures at the end. Do you think that would look better?
