The NRE 3GS21B is a modern locomotive designed for switching in yards. This locomotive is classified as a low emmisions locomotive as it uses a genset engine design, this means it has three engines but they only activate when needed. They entered production in 2006 at NRE's MT Vernon plant and in total 182 locomotives have been produced with one being a road slug.
