Definitly not a life's need, but very funny anyways: the pogo stick!
There's a existing pogo stick mod, but if you want to keep it simple, you can just click this link, activate the command, and enjoy your own. pogo stick!
Works most smoothly in creative mode, but works in survival as well. Chances of death are minimal. No terrain damage.
