This build was really just me trying to push myself forward and mess with a bunch of stuff I haven’t really done before I wanted it to feel like some old point and click adventure game i remember playing as a kid but i couldnt remember enough to ever find it so it gave me the idea to try to build something similar so the goal became the idea of almost like seeing a character you somehow recognize even though you’ve never actually seen him before.
I was chasing a really painterly look with this one and trying to treat the build more like an actual painting a huge part of that was experimenting with baked lighting and chiaroscuro using really heavy light and shadow to shape everything instead of just lighting the entire build evenly, I wanted huge parts of him to basically disappear into the darkness, while the face, beard, hands and little bits of gold slowly get pulled forward by the light.
More than anything I wanted it to have that weird nostalgic feeling old games gave me Warm, lonely, mysterious, almost like a memory from somewhere you’ve never actually been.
All in all this one was mostly me experimenting, trying new techniques and seeing how far I could push lighting, color, values and atmosphere in Minecraft. I learned a lot making it and I definitely wanna keep exploring this kind of style more.

This is slowly becoming something much bigger than a collection of Minecraft builds.
For now, I am still doing what I have always wanted to do:
Building the things I wish I could find in a world.
