The Palace of Culture named after Sergei Mironovich Kirov is a building in Voronezh, located at Leninsky Prospekt, 1.

The building was built in 1954 according to a standard design developed by the architect Konstantin Konstantinovich Bartoshevich. This project was actively used in the cities of the USSR (see, for example, the KrAZ cultural center in Kremenchug or the oil workers’ cultural center in Ishimbay).

In front of the facade there is a small courtyard, which is limited by a colonnade on the side of the avenue.
The volume of the palace was designed in full accordance with the architectural canons of that era. The total area of ​​the premises is 3500 m². The palace had rooms for classes, clubs, a gym, a library with a reading room, a large auditorium for 500 people and a small auditorium for 200 people. Previously, according to the same project in 1951, the Voronezh Palace of Culture of the Comintern Plant was built.
In May 1964, at the Palace of Culture, Vasily Shukshin premiered his debut film “There Lives Such a Guy” (the film was banned in Moscow for ideological reasons). A memorial plaque commemorating this event was installed on the building in 2004, and in 2020, a public garden named after the director was opened on the territory adjacent to the building and a monument was erected.[1][2]

After a fire in May 2006, the building is in disrepair and is not in use.
