Here is a build of the Parseval-Siegsfeld Drachen (Dragon) or also know as the "Flying Sausage". It was used by the German Empire from the 1800s up to WW1. They were designed as observation and artillery spotting platforms. Usually carrying one man to high altitudes for unobstructed views. In 1916 French Aces started directly attacking these balloons. In one day 6 were lost to "Balloon Busters" attacks. This caused the German Army to withdrawal them from service.
