The peaceful people of Phantasma slept peacefully one night unknowing of the alien meteor hurtling down towards them. The meteor impacted the quiet mountain beyond the city. Few people were hurt but all were awoken by the sudden boom. Teams set out to explore the meteor the next morning. They had found that it had left a massive hole in the mountain forming a sort of cave. However, they searched for days and never found or once glimpsed upon the meteor itself. It was about a week after impact that the land began to rise out of the ground. The citizens of Phantasma thought it to be an earthquake before an old farmer on the edge of the city turned around and realized they were 100 meters or so in the air. Everyone scared for there lived hid in there homes as the city continued rising upward, into the clouds and above. Not until that evening did it stop abruptly and hover there in the air. It has stayed that way ever since. They people of Phantasma rebuilt there homes, crops fields, mines and even used the cave for housing and shops. The once beautiful Phantasma now high up in the air was even more glorious. A few small pieces of land rose up along with the city where fragments of the meteor had hit. So the people build to these islands and inhabited them too. They city thrived and grew. It was completely self sustaining with windmills to grind wheat into flour, carrots and potatoes for stews. The rain replenished the lake which fed into a river where people could drink and bath. Houses were constructed around the mountain and atop was the great Manor. With no one to make war or trade, Phantasma was completely isolated, but this did not stop innovation and creation. Air balloons were erected and used to get to new islands. Mines spiraled down around the spires on beneath the city where riches and gems where mined. Down in the mines they even found the meteor a bright, glowing, metallic shard, too amazing to look upon for too long. No one seems to no the mysteries of the shard and how it holds the city up. Some are scared its power may one day run out, leaving the city to crash to the ground. But others do not fear it will run out, but what lies inside... waiting to come out.
