The Pool Rooms map is my own version of the Backrooms level 37, "Pool Rooms", recreated in Minecraft 1.16.4. Through the creative efforts of my best friend Travis and I, and with the help of some friends, we successfully created an exploration map of liminal Pool Rooms in Minecraft which we are proud to present to the public at this stage. We started the project all the way back in January after being inspired by the work of Jared Pike and Found Footage videos of liminal spaces on Youtube. I am very excited to finally release the map after many hours of building and listening to music with my best friend. Building the map has been a truly enjoyable and fulfilling experience, and now I can't wait to see the public's reaction to it. Thank you all! -27Hz / FAR741

This is such a cool recreation of the Pool Rooms Geometry Dash Lite atmosphere. The lighting and empty liminal feel are honestly spot on, especially in those darker screenshots. You can tell a lot of effort went into making the spaces feel unsettling but relaxing at the same time. Definitely one of the better Backrooms-inspired Minecraft maps I’ve seen.

history
Minecraft projects like this always impress me because building detailed environments takes a lot of patience and creativity. I once tried making a small underwater structure in survival mode and it took far longer than I expected just to get the shapes and lighting right. Maps inspired by strange spaces like pool rooms can look surprisingly realistic. It even reminded me of researching real pool equipment recently, where I ended up reading Jandy Pool Products reviews to understand how people rate different systems.
