A New Version of this porject will be (or has already) come out. This New Vesrion is completley updated with current 1.8 snapshots as well as having many more options.
Ever want a magical item that summons a temporary shelter? Well, now you can!
Using the new features available in the newest snapshots I have created an item that when thrown on the ground will summon a small tent that can act a shelter for the evening. This 5x5 tent (or 9x9 tower) appears around the player when they drop the summoning book and say the magic words (tellraw and trigger commands).
Please find my test world for this attached. You should spawn near the clone area, there you will find a button that will give you a book that can summon the tent or alternatively a new 9x9 tower!

So the biggest problem I have considered with this poject is the ablitlty to destroy the world by spawning the tower or tent in.... however, here I am writitng lesson plans at work and BAM!
The tesforblocks command can test an area, so why not use it to test if the player has enough free space around them to no destroy anything (especially on a server where they could grief others buildings).
