After about 2 hours of experimenting and refining the original design, I have created this simple Redstone airlock. The inside of the airlock chamber is 4x5x4 block large. The 2x3 doors each use a Redstone clock to create a waiting period between each door opening and closing. The button in the center of the room is connected to a T-flip flop controlling the channel of the Redstone current to each of the Redstone clocks.
