This is one of my personal variants of a Roman basilica. This particular build isn't based off of any specific real-life structure from the past, but it is inspired by a number of basilicas throughout Roman history.
Roman basilicas were some of the most important buildings in a Roman city as they were predominant in Roman Fora in the city of Rome and throughout Campagna. Roman basilicas doubled as court/law buildings and could be found in the center of the city with the senate building, records building, and other court buildings. The most famous basilicas in Roman history include the Basilica Aemilia, Basilica Julia, Basilica Ulpia, and the Basilica of Maxentius.
Roman basilicas often had their own individual charm to them as they were extremely important buildings to each city. However, they all kept these defining traits: heavy ornamentation, statue design, and the inclusion of a clerestory for natural air and light flow into the structure.
Hope you enjoy this creation! As always, stay tuned for more upcoming builds, particularly with the Imperial Fora series as there's only two more installments left! You can check out the Forum of Trajan, Forum of Caesar, and Forum of Augustus maps on my profile which include options for downloads.
For business inquiries, you can either message me in PMC or via discord (Praetorian#7425).
