Hi,
This is the first time I'm uploading a project to Planet Minecraft. It's a castle I've been working on for a while now in my spare time. It's constructed in our server's project-subworld of the creative world. It was made with the default texture pack in mind.
I started by working out how I wanted the land to be for this project using world edit commands. I wanted it to be 202 x 101 blocks in dimensions (which equals 2 donator plot sizes at newmineland).
At first making a flat map of where I wanted land and where I wanted water, then followed by creating the actual land from map reference, followed by a naturalize to make it look less like a giant dirt heap.
After I finished making the rough concept for the land I started working on walls at the front, where I decided on what materials I wanted to use for a colourscheme of the architecture (Mainly stone, stonebrick and cobblestone in all shapes and forms, followed with a bit of coloured wool to bring a bit of colour in the design). I then proceeded making the bridge leading to the second island part.
Once I had finished the first island I was ready to start making foundations for the actual castle part of the project. I started with the front staircase and entrance to the stables, and eventually worked myself through the entire island (I'll spare you of the various inbetween screenshots of that process).
One of the things that was really important for me when constructing the castle was to make a castle you could get lost in exploring it. Making it so that every little part is reachable and every hallway leading to different sections of the castle, much like you would spent a lot of time going in every little corner when exploring a final fantasy castle (looking for items :D).
I also took my time to make various secret passageways and easter eggs (For example escape routes for the noblemen).
Another point that I wanted to incorporate into the castle was to make it a castle where people could do and learn a lot of various things, almost like a university. I've added things such as a library, a chapel, gardens, a greenhouse, theatre (or) opera, observatory, ballroom, stables and other various rooms and places.
I've also had the joy of giving people from the server jobs like groundskeeper, captain of the guards, librarian, old man, stablemaster, head astronomer, terramancer, producer, warden and so on for the sake of joyous semi-roleplaying, just to add a bit of personal touch to it all.
Currently I'm thinking the entire project is roughly halfway done due to the exterior design being done in its rough shapes (Might detail it a bit more here and there since some parts are more detailled than other parts), but the project still needs work on the B-floors (hardly worked on at all) and interior design (done only VERY rough).
If you're looking for more of a view than just the screenshots (There is a lot more to see that I could not all take screenshots of) then you are all welcome to travel to it and check it from inside out on our server.
A direct path to it would be to join the server as a new player, make your way to the HUB and then proceeding to the creative world portal, after which you should head to the dark green circle (portal to the projects sub-world) and then follow to the direction of the golden arrow you should see there (Next to the giant hovering nuclear submarine of my dear friend Thedutchjelle, who is probably responsible for the nuke that is heading for my plot.)
Thank you for viewing!

PS: I seem to be having difficulties adding the server information to this project (It won't save the information somehow). Is there anyone who knows why this is happening? Thanks in advanced.
