Intrroduction:
Skull island, a place for the former pirates of S.S. Midas touch to rest and enjoy the calming life. Away from treasures and adventures, rotting to the sunset, aging faster than the vegetaion, dying by the sea side. Happy and well with their own existence, away from laws and violence, making the best of their limited lifespan.
Build process:
Firts I research references for the build, with a vision of what I want in mind. I used tropical islands for terrain reference. Tropical villages and @paperbluenet 's artwork on Instagram for the houses. And for the ship I used Colonian and medieval battle ships as reference.
In-game references:
- Pearlescentmoon
- Bdouble0100
-PixelBiesters (builder group)
With good references and ideas on my belt i can start choosing block palettes, nothing definitive because it's good to experiment new things while building. I knew before hand the terrain would be massive, so we should prioritize block colours instead of the block textures, And came up with a stone palette for my terrain that consistis of: Andesite, Stone, Acacia Log, and Basalt. With a diferent method, of building, to "paintthe terrain" simulating shadows, cracks and other colour variety.
I chose 2 types of diferent trees for variety yet save time, and imple vegetation overall.
For the village I wanted warm colours to match the tropical athmosphere, a lot of wood and brown blocks. I was heavily inspired by @paperbluenet 's artwork on Instagram (recommend you check them out) I wanted to make the houses improvised somewhat, busy, full of detail and vegetation, hanging by beams and ropes, with no care to physics.

I really don't recommend building by hand if you get opportunities to use tools like WorldEdit though! They can help a lot for even just speeding the process up while still being just as detailed using brushes with masks to paint the terrain the same way you already do, which is a really cool way. :)
