Introducing SS ORIANA in Minecraft!
This is a 1:1 scale build of the P&O Liner SS Oriana! This build features her First and Tourist Class interiors.
A few things to Note about this build:
1) I recommend you use the Natural Texture Pack for full immersion.
2) I build in 1:1 scale, but building in this scale comes with limitations. Some areas may be distorted or compromised due to scale and sizing when building in 1:1. Compromises have to be made in order to complete the build, so some areas may not actually resemble the actual thing.
3) This build does not feature cabins, engine rooms, or crew member spaces. There is dead space unfortunately, but I try my best to accurately recreate the popular venues onboard. All builds primarily focuses on class accommodations (Lounges, Dining Rooms, etc).
Short history of the SS Oriana
SS Oriana was an ocean liner built for the Orient Steam Navigation Company in 1959 and was the last ship built for them. She was built by Vickers-Armstrong and had her maiden voyage on December 3, 1960. She was originally seen in her Orient Lines livery which featured a corn-colored hull and in a two class configuration. Her design was unique and allowed for various cabins and ample deck space. In 1966, Orient Line merged with P&O to create the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company, with the new Canberra being her running mate. She served until 1981 and was retired in March of 1986. From there, she was bought and converted into a floating hotel and museum in Japan. In 1995 she was sold again a company based in China to use her as a floating hotel. The ship served as a floating hotel and tourist attraction in Shanghai until 2002, when she was moved to Dalian. In 2004, the Oriana was damaged in a storm. Repairs proved to be unfeasible, so she was towed to a ship breakers yard and dismantled in 2005 marking the end of her 46 year long life.
