Haha, I completely forgot the lifeboat was missing in that photo. but uhh, for the sake of "storytelling" I'll say that a group of stowaways robbed the Pursers office, stole tons of jewelry and money from the safe and booked out of that place in the dead of night, the ships crew didn't realize till the next morning that the boat was missing, but were shocked to find the ropes were cut, meaning, the missing boat must have dropped during lowering and crashed into the sea.
