St James' Park is a 23 hectare public park sandwiched between the heart of royalty: Buckingham Palace, and the heart of government: Whitehall. Originally marshland, it was drained on the orders of James I for use as a royal zoo with many an exotic animal collected inside. It was then converted into formal gardens by Charles II with a large canal down the middle, which remained until the reign of George III/George IV when it was shortened and turned into the natural looking lake it is today.
Naturally just being southeast of Buckingham Palace it is usually today flocked with tourists but still remains quite beautiful.
It was recreated by madman builder Still#2636 with plans for Green park and Buckingham gardens (jesus).
Happy building!
