Hello,
this is a steamroller that was used to compress ground or asphalt. They also were used for pulling things on construction sites or in agriculture (for example plows), because at that point in time there were no other self-propelled vehicles that strong. They basically were locomotives with the wheels replaced with rollers and quite similar to a Steam Tractor.
Steamrollers were invented in the 1860s and contributed to the industrialization. With them, ground could be compressed a lot more than with horse-pulled rollers because they were much heavier.
Until the 1970s, steamrollers were in commercial use.
You could use a steamroller to power an Old Threshing Machine by connecting the steamroller's flywheel to the threshing machine using transmission belts.
I also made a modern Road Roller.
