I Have made step assist in vanilla minecraft. BORED OF JUMPING UP A BLOCK. NO LONGER!!
I have also put in safegaurds
1)you cant use it if there is a two high jump
2)you cant use it if there is a block over your head 
WORKS FOR MOST COMMONLY ENCOUNTERD BLOCKS IN THE OVERWORLD NETHER AND THE END
