Hello, guys! Now, it hasn't been long since i uploaded Part 2 of The Reluctant Voyager, but I just wanted to show you guys how much progress I've made on Part 3: The Final Battle. This page is for the shorter version of the map, which just has the main boss battle. I plan to create a video explaining the rules of the battle, and that will be available to watch on youtube after i upload the short version of the map. The long version of the map will add a parkour course prior to the battle chamber, where you navigate a series of floating platforms over the void while avoiding the various projectiles that are being thrown at you from dispensers.
On another note, I've wanted to do a boss battle for a long time, ever since I found out about the GLaDOS battle made by Matt from the Suited Walrus Squad. That is a good map by the way, I'll give a link to that here. http://www.planetminecraft.com/project/interactive-glados-battle-fvdisco-inspired/ Anyway, the video for that showed me some of the tried and true mechanics borrowed from fvDisco's evil easter bunny boss fight, namely the cave spider tracking system. I tried the hit detector with the boat, but it didn't work with my setup, so i made a simpler version with a pressure plate on a block. I also used a simple clock to allow for repetitive firing of the attacks, but for the final stage, which switches between two new secondary attacks from Zenon while still firing the arrows, I used a toggled blink device rather than another clock or Matt's piston memory tape. I also used a whole lot of 2-input AND gates to link up the systems. If you want to have a look, I'll make a video showing the mechanics. So, that wraps up this description, and I'll update when I have more progress.
