The Vasa is a Swedish warship built between 1626 and 1627. The ship sank after sailing roughly 1,300m after setting sail on her first trip on 10 August 1628. Most of the Vasa's bronze cannons were salvaged in the 17th century until she was found again in the late 1950s in a busy shipping area in Stockholm harbour. The mostly intact warship was salvaged in 1961 and then temporarily placed in a museum called Wasavarvet ("The Vasa Shipyard") before being permanently being moved to the Vasa Museum in Stockholm in December 1987.
The Vasa had a height of 52.5m and a length of 69m (Sparred length). The ship also sailed with a crew of 145 sailors, 300 soldiers and had an armament of 64 cannons. The Vasa did have 72 gunports but 8 were empty due to the ship being completed before than the cannons were.
