If you get a in-game map item, that whole map is flat. there is bedrock walls at the edge of the in-game map that lead out to a non-flat area.

Im new to downloading maps XD and I was wondering how I run this on my minecraft once i download it?

You will have to have either 7-ZIP or WinRAR. Then you will have to open the .zip file with either 7-ZIP or WinRAR. You'll have to drag the folder from the .zip file into your saves folder. Your saves folder is in your .minecraft folder. To get there, open your start menu, then type %appdata%, hit enter, or click the Roaming folder to open it. There will be your .minecraft folder! (:
