This project is one that will see the towns of Widnes and Runcorn in North West England completed to scale in vanilla Minecraft. It will not only give a real life model of the two towns but also provide a realistic British town area. Both towns are interesting in design in real life and have a number of major landmarks with in their confines such as the Silver Jubilee Bridge better known locally as the Runcorn bridge, the Ethelelda railway bridge, the Manchester Ship Canal as well as the yet to be completed Mersey Gateway bridge. Just outside of Widnes lies the outskirts of Liverpool which will also be modelled, this area will include both the Everton Football Club training ground at Finch Farm and Liverpool John Lennon Airport.

The map itself will initially be completed in vanilla Minecraft before steps are taken to modify textures and shades to make the area look as appropriate as possible. Construction started in the area of the two existing bridges and is starting to progress nicely with both the road and railway bridges nearing completion and a section of the Manchester Ship Canal and adjacent old town also beginning to take shape. In the near future the immediate area around the two bridges in both the Old Town and West Bank will be completed before moving on to complete the Mersey Estuary and Spike Island.

Any input from people who know the local area well is welcome.
