This one is something more different than most of my Star Wars projects, but I wanted to start making maps with other themes..
So this time I'm showing you Winterfell, the castle and home of the Starks in Game of Thrones.
I built the castle in it's later form, after it was rebuilt by the Boltons around Season 5 of the TV series. I know that the book version of Winterfell is probably different from this, that's why I wanted to clear things up. (I haven't read the books though..)
I rewatched the whole series and started making screenshots of every scene/place inside and outside the castle to make it as accurate as possible, although some of the places are basically impossible to be fit inside the castle. This is due to the fact that when they show the whole castle, then they use a CGI model, but shoot the interior scenes in a real life location that is a bit different to the CGI model (I really don't know why they haven't created the model so that it can fit the real life locations and rooms in it...). This gave me a lot of frustration while I tried to figure out which scene was in which location...
The project is now finished, but I have some ideas for possible additions in the future:
- More interior & rooms
- Battle-ready, frozen, more snowy version of the castle - although this will probably be a seperate project
(based on my Season 8 expectations/ideas)
