Considering releasing this map as it is right now. The texture pack I was using was old and is no longer compatible with minecraft so it looks ridiculous with gray clay. Maybe i'll make an effort and make a quick texture pack for this map.

Well. I really should update this map and project page. Hm.

I've put off this project for a while due to several aspects that were being implemented with the latest patch. With the release of 1.8, I've decided to hop back on the productivity train. I've done some minor boring edits, but here's an overview shot using the built-in fly function in creative mode.

I tweaked a Zelda texture pack to make the clay more orangey like in the game. I also greened up the mossy stone a bunch to make it suit my needs better.
Bill and I knocked out quite a bit of quick visual improvements just with the first layer of rocks and all the bushes. Whee!! Zelda!

We really buckled down and laid down a bunch of ground tonight. The coast shown below was a test to see how the waterfalls would look. We're going to have to take out the grid. With any texture pack they're pretty much an eyesore anyway. I really like how this is turning out. Things are going to start popping up soon, and then it will really feel like we're strollin around in Hyrule.

Once I got down to the level of Lake Hylia, everything's started progressing a bit faster.
You can see that most of the bottom and the right edge of the map are laid out.
Stay tuned! Once the ground level is down, the walls will start going up, and it will begin to look a hell of a lot more interesting.

We've really expanded on the overworld, when compared to the other night.
Also, if you think the snow under there is kind of odd, it is. My server and computer crashed and made the biome burp out a new seed. The new seed made the majority of the area under ice and snow. I panicked, but luckily I had a backup copy of the servers world and level.dat files. Reloading the old level.dat file fixed the biome issue. PHEW.
I'd say this is really starting to look a bit more like the Legend of Zelda. :)

I've been working on recreating Hyrule from the NES game The Legend of Zelda, complete with all 9 dungeons.
I've finished the dungeons with a little help from my brother, and am finally getting around to start on the overworld.
I first started off making a grid of sandstone at sea level so I could figure out where the entrances for each dungeon should be. It was only a matter of picking, choosing and jockeying around the dungeons to make the best use out of the space I was given so that the overworld wouldn't start up in the clouds. The only one even remotely out of the way is Death Mountain, which I had to put behind the entire map. That place is huge compared to the other dungeons. There's a long staircase leading from the overworld entrance of Death Mountain to the actual dungeon. It worked out pretty well.
