Due to the (new) properties of glowstone in Minecraft 1.2. You can put redstone dust on it again.
However redstone wire on glowstone acts different than redstone wire on a normal solid block. Because a redstone signal can only stay at the same or higher elevation as the source of the signal. So a redstone signal can't travel down on glowstone. So you could say that glowstone acts like diode.
A use for these properties are for example a zero-tick delay OR-gate.
