Altum is a fairly old server. We're a "Heavyish" server. This means, while we have many aspects of a heavy server (restricted classes, emphasis on trading, etc.), speaking "in character" isn't required. Feel free to do so with your friends, of course, just don't expect it to be neccessary. Think of us as an MMO. although, small scale. SMO, perhaps?

We have no whitelist, but you will be unable to do anything until you choose a class.

We have a rather nice class system;

• Mage: Mages have a vast arsenal of spells. They can blast thier enemies with fireballs or summon minions to do thier bidding. They can even create mythical enchantments and elixers. There are four variations of Mage, each with their own abilities.
  
  
• Warrior: Warriors are the brutes of Altum. They can wear any variety of armour, and wield the finest blades forged. They make excellent guards and mercenaries.
  
  
• Merchant: Merchants can forge currency from gold and can setup 24/7 shops. They are the backbone of the economy and have the potential to be the richest of the rich among players.
  
  
• Blacksmith: Blacksmiths can forge the finest armour and weapons. They can repair all damage to a warrior's gear.
  
  
• Rogue : Rogues lurk in the shadows and perform many a nefarious crime. They can unlock locked chests, and can wield fine weaponry.
  
  
• Archer: Archers kill their enemies from afar. They can make good use of swords. Archers are very similar to the Rogue, with an honest streak. (Can't lockpick. Towns often shun Rogues because of their nature)
  
  
• Gatherer: Gatherers salvage the land for its useful resources. No empire can be built without stone and wood.
