WELCOME, TRUE BELIEVERS!

Greetings and salutations from BULLPEN HEROES, a Superhero Roleplaying Server not set in Marvel, DC, or any other world the staff cooked up! No, dear creator, everything in the Bullpen is created by you, the player. Every single hero, villain, anti-hero, powers, and even the buildings are all going to come straight from the minds of the players and realized by the hardworking staff members of The Bullpen! You can have any bizarre or incredible power that you ever dreamed up, so long as it abides our rules about excessive power. Claim any secret origin for the superpowered champion of your creation, with no preset lore to abide by! Cities and, with them, Heroes will rise by nothing but the stroke of your keyboard, dear creator! And all you need to start? Just a bit of creativity.

CHARACTER CREATION
When building your intrepid challenger of what was already known, you can be as vague or specific as possible. Tell me what the guy eats for breakfast every second Tuesday! If we really wanted to break down this creating thing to a science, then there's really only three things needed for a good character submission: their name, their powers, and their backstory. That's all! But if you want to build the world and flesh out how you can RP your character, please start asking and answering these questions. Where does your character's alter ego work? Do they have a secret hideout? An apartment? What is their motivation for being a hero/villain? What are some of their personality traits? Those are just a few of the many bases to touch when creating a truly great character that expands out the world of The Bullpen!

POWERS
When it comes to powers here on The Bullpen, we're not about who's the stronger character. What we really care about is the ingenuity and creativity of the powers, whether it's something creative like gravity manipulation or just a creative use of a simple power, such as starting fires with super-speed. So, for that matter, infinite or omni- anything powers (i.e. omnipotence, omniscience, etc.) are simply not allowed. We won't be having any Dr. Manhattans here. You can have a maximum of 3 unique powers, with enhanced human abilities only counting for one power. If you have a creative way to expand your character's powers into other uses, as with Iron Man's hand repulsors doubling as flight stabilizers, we will be happy to grant you that ability!

ROLEPLAY
While we have bombastic powers and even better builds, Bullpen is still primarily a roleplaying server. So as tempting as it may be to spend all day fighting each other or admiring the scenery, we encourage you all to roleplay with your newly created characters, since you may find it a lot more interesting than you thought! However, there are a few ground rules. If you're attacking someone, generally try to give them a chance to dodge or block their attack, so as to avoid god-modding. When fighting a hero that's very obviously out of your power ball park, do your best to instead outsmart them, using your environment and clever use of your powers rather than your fists alone to defeat them! Because the server doesn't have an established lore or continuity, it's up to you to create it! So, if your character is killed in an RP, please don't bring them back immediately with no explanations. This world isn't going to be built on cities alone! Oh, and please do your best to find ways to connect to other players while roleplaying. Getting an alien warrior and earth vigilante to meet for a roleplay may seem a daunting task, but I know that you're up to it!


BUILDING
As stated prior, all buildings on this server are written in by the players. So please, I beg of you, don't just write about the skyscrapers that your wealthy superhero family owns! We need some variety if the city's going to be the roleplay hub of this whole server! Write about the little places, like childhood homes in the city, and florist shops where you got your powers, the plaza where you fought your first supervillain. Do you think the server could use a PvP arena? Write a submission about an underground gambling committee where superpowered combatants are the chips! Don't restrict your imagination at all!

EXAMPLE
Erika Barbados just had to be the first telekinetic surfer. Water breathing surfers, flying surfers, there had to be tons of those. But a telekinetic one? That was rare. It just had to be. Her abilities first manifested while ripping a gnarly wave on a small beach cove, hidden away from the bustle of everything. She was on top of the wave, soaring it out, but suddenly felt that she didn't need the wave anymore. She was soaring above it, higher and higher until she was surfing the wind itself! Erika soared through the city, stopping bad guys held by the totally tubular surfer code. It's not much, but it's there, and hits some of the platforms of the thorough submission process!
