We wanted to create something different and genuine for the world of minecraft, not another one of the millions of "survival" servers, not one of those seemingly corporate servers where you're thrown into a sea of square plots, and your neighbors have massive builds that make you feel insignificant. Not a heavily modded server that requires you to download mountains of data. (but we will have mods eventually) And not one of those servers that are thrown together in a couple minutes with little to no control.
We would like to do something that feels like a natural experience, an evolving gameplay where different parties and factions influence activities and you could be the one pulling the strings if you make the right decisions amongst your peers. Where you could explore different counties, landscapes, and cities. Where you could become immersed in Lore and story telling, epic adventures and lost treasures. Where you and everyone else can partake in massive events that change the shape of the people, cultures, and politics of Celtia.
This is my punch at a dream of mine that I've been nourishing, granted up to this point it's been a very long and slow punch, but a punch nonetheless, and now with a stable IP we're able and willing to reach out to a talented community. So if you want to help us make something big, want to be treated like an equal, want to collaborate on a big scale, exchange ideas and see them come to life. Then welcome, we're looking for you.
At this point we have done a lot of work, but when we're running back and forth between different large projects, trying to keep track of one idea or another, it gets to be very overwhelming but before I get into exactly what the current situation is, I'll try to give you a brief taste as to what we're trying to accomplish here.
Lore: As stated briefly we have a back story in place for this world. Many of the ideas were only brought up as interesting topics or jokes in passing, but I've compiled many of these tales into myths, legends, bar songs, and even the tale as to how the nation came together. We plan to let the player stumble upon these things as they venture around the world, either by way of mouth, easter eggs, quests, and even simply by picking up books on the subjects at the town's library. We hope these experiences will let the player become ever more immersed in the world around them as they work, adventure, fight, and generally live their way through it.
Guilds: Though not a strongly original idea on it's own, guilds will be a big part of this server, but not so huge as to manipulate every decision. So far we have three (skyrim-esque) groups we plan on incorporating: The Thieves, whom operate in shadowy corners of civilization, and carry out morally questionable operations. They are secretive and very rarely seen, they don't usually do business with anyone outside of their circle of influence, but if you have enough coin you may draw their attention for a job... Or they'll just right take every piece you have. The Knights, they are known to wear shiny armor, but they aren't always chivalrous. At times they do good deeds, but money talks, and it pays for armor too. Pay them to do a job and they'll do it, without discretion or questions. The Mages live secluded up in the mountains, and spend their days meditating over various things. They maintain a center of knowledge, so if you're looking for answers, no matter what they are, you can usually find them in their stronghold. However they don't let everyone in, and they can be quick to anger. Some of them are not above doing dirty deeds though. They can smuggle information about anyone or anything anywhere to anybody, a powerful tool to the politician. The guilds are designed to not be owned by counties or own counties. Since they are private institutions with old and sacred traditions they cannot be touched with any legality by the counties or government unless a grand council has been assembled and decided so.
The guild system will be made so anyone can move their way up. Don't like who's in charge? cause an uprising, stage a coup, or get rid of him yourself by your own dirty means. we strongly encourage evolution within them and we also encourage mischief between the guilds, to make things interesting.
Politics: The world of Celtia is divided amongst eight counties and a central capital that stands on it's own. The counties choose representatives to form a "parliament". Then those representatives can meet to make major decisions as a congress. The king of the capital is to bring neutrality, advice, and act as a buffer for these arrangements. As the king is the main admin, he can reach out when need be or when things get desperate. much like the city it'self. Playing politics isn't for anybody, (understandably) but you can influence or evolve the county you represent. If you have a strong voice and a vision your determination will get you far, dirty political games can do that too however, so watch your back. All in all this is the ultimate field for someone who wants to feel a part of something bigger and an ideal place for someone to make a name for themselves.
Civilianship: Picture being anything you want in a community. Well, that's really our goal. Be it a beggar, a trader, a mason, (possible guild there) a mercenary, a shop owner, an artist, a farmer, a miner, a hunter, an explorer or adventurer, whatever it is we want to give you the opportunity to be that person from your fantasies. (no, not that one stop being gross.) Become a legend for something ordinarily extraordinary! Write a ballad about a legend, find a lost treasure, or simply keep your people from starving you fantastic farmer you! As we've stated over and over again this is all about true immersion, to find your place in something
Landscape: we tried to make an old-world feel of gameplay come out as much as possible, the landscape is planned out with a system of roads and canals, and walking a distance away from any of the city walls can make you feel quite isolated but surrounded with a lush, untouched environment. Don't think that the woods and plains are empty however, taking any one of the roads and trails into the forests and you may find yourself at one of the hundreds of marked or hidden locations. caves, mountain passes, outposts, or even ruins are all out there for you to find. One should never venture to far down unprotected roads unprepared however, so be cautious.
Many of the social and mechanical features we plan on having won't be implemented until the map itself is finished being constructed, for obvious reasons. This is a project that anyone has the potential to do something great in and I want anyone to be able to participate in helping us put this together. Much of the map has been built, but there are still things that need to be done and a couple projects we have yet to start on. So there is a lot to do and more ahead. The status of the server for the current time is on and running, but to a small and dedicated group of people. Anyone can hop on and look at what we have so far, but I will not OP just anyone, i'm not that gullable. If you want to be an active participating member email me at renhansen94@hotmail.com with your In-game name, a short bio of yourself, What you find you are best at, and some screenshots or links to some of your previous work. we look forward to seeing how we can grow into an innovative, and connected community.
CITIES & PROJECTS:
Reynoldstown: The Capital of the entire Union, it has an elevated Celtic theme and spans three districts. It holds the Castle of the King, and it also serves as the seat of the government. It is a neutral territory that remains impartial to any conflicts in the realm. about 95% complete. (only because I'm trying to make it more efficient.)
Praetoria: The Capital of Romulus county, it proudly displays a Roman theme. It is a wealthy trade hub, with focus to art and prosperity. However, the rich grow richer and the poor grow poorer. It is known to be the largest competing force in the Union, even rivaling the capital. 80% complete.
Gortyntown: The Capital of Gortyn county with a rustic Viking buff. Gortyners are masters of the sea, and have reached thier height through trade. While thier warfaring days are over, the people of Gortyn still cling tightly to thier traditions... perhaps a little too tightly. 95% complete
Daemon City: The Capital of Bibracta county with a steampunk feel. Daemonites are innovative folk. The city was rumored to have "fallen" from the sky eons ago. They are somewhat isolationists, seeing the cultures of the other counties as old-fashioned and primitive. 100% complete. (I ported one of Khanaris' projects for this, though I might consider either moving it or just building my own version of the city. We will see.)
Marvus: The hold Capital of Luminara county. It lies deep in the dephs of the earth and is home to Celtia's native dwarves. It was once a citiy that lied in secret, but has since joined the union. The Dwarves are exellent stonemasons, although stubborn, and spend most of thier lives underground. 15% (we just started work on this project, it looks very exciting so far!)
Nippon: The mysterious land of Nippon is home to a people who are not native to the lands of Celtia. They are said to have come far from the east, escaping tyranny of some kind. This land is Asian-inspired and his home to the Mages Guild. (I don't really know how to rate the progress on this, some buildings are done, but there is much to do. I myself am not an expert on asian architecture. I am looking for a builder who can tackle this. I was thinking about making the Mages guild look akin to Himji Castle.)
Saxbury: This Capital of Brennusia is themed after Anglo-Saxon England. The Saxons are proud warriors with a long history fighting the battles for the union. Saxbury is home to the Knights Guild, and it has seen the blunt of many wars. 50% complete. ( The town and Guilt was partly built previously by an old admin. He's not around much anymore, and the Guild needs rebuilt, while the town needs fleshing out.)
Truro: The elves who once lived here have long since departed, nevertheless, the town they left behind is full of Elven beauty. It is the Capital of Boudica County, the farthest reaching of the territories. Truroans try thier best to carry on the cultured traditions of the forgotten elves. 0% complete ( we have not broken grown on this project yet.)
Wayland: Within the Gaelic Territories sits the frontier town of Wayland, which acts as the impromptu capital. It is a homely town and will serve as the first major location the player sees. The Gaelic Territories are mostly uninhabited, but may later grow more prosperous. 0% complete (while we know where we want it to be, we have yet to start it. The nearest town for the player so far is Gortyntown.)

At this point I would like to thank some other planet minecrafters for inspiring me, or for some of their works that have made a comfortable and fitting home in our world, or both. While most of the buildings in our world are virtually all hand-built by me, I would not have achieved this skill level without inspiration from your works. Some of your building have been used as place-holders and some have made a perfect fit in our world.
Lynchyinc, I saw your building pack (seems like ages ago now) and decided I wanted to build a city with them for the hell of it, once all the couryards, towers, skylines, and districts came together I was amazed at what opens up with the right tools and an idea. It is from your buildings that I built the capital from and the idea of this server stemmed.
Novv and Deerassassin0424, since your building styles are similar (for instance, I know that Novv inspired Lynchyinc) I used a couple of your buildings because they gave off different accents in different places of the capital. Thanks for your hard work on these buildings.
Khanaris, what can I say about ths guy? He's a legend of the skyward adventures to be sure! I have learned a lot from your intricately immense constructions, they have evolved my building and let me start to explore roleplaying possibilities. I'm currently using one of your structures as a placeholder for a city I want to build later. Something in the mountains with rocky spires perhaps?
I thank and appreciate all your works, and i invite you to participate in this venture as well.
Cheers!
P.S. Why not drop a wee diamond, for our hard work!
