Pretty much the same as that nostalgic server everyone used to play on when they first started. Nothing too fancy, just some basic plugins to make everything run a bit smoother.
The goal of the server is just to keep it as a nice small community, and not turn into one of those giant multi-world multi-game mode servers.
The rules basically boil down to not being a bad person.
The server is actually hosted in New Zealand, while most "New Zealand" servers are hosted in Australia. There is also no whitelist and we're open to anyone who wants to join!

Around Christmas 2020, I stumbled into Gabbage while looking to play on a server for a few days. When I joined, I came face-to-face with a well dressed duck sitting around a campfire. That set the tone pretty quick...
From day one, the community was nothing but kind and welcoming. I rtp'd, found a place to build, and quickly came to love how useful the plugins were while still preserving that vanilla experience. I actually liked Gabbage so much I forced my friend to buy Minecraft and join me.
The server offers a great experience, not just in lag-free gameplay, but community interaction too. There's events like end resets with special challenges, seasonal celebrations, and other creative contests; alongside an active owner and mods that engage with all players. It helps keep Minecraft fresh and interesting!
So, if you're someone who loves to build, survive, explore, hang out and chat, or become unfathomably rich, Gabbage might just be for you.
You played on Gabbage for a total of 15 hours. From the moment you joined you were being a huge pain to other members, constantly trying to 1v1 pvp everyone, being very antagonistic. You were also caught for building death traps and getting other players to TP to you, only to kill them and steal their items. Gabbage doesn't allow unconsenting PVP or stealing of other players items like that.
After being told off you were still being very rude to other players and staff.
So, we gave you a one week ban, to which you immediately started spam messaging other players and staff on the discord asking.to be unbanned, with no real apology of any kind.
When I explained to you what you did wrong you just said "pls unban" with no sign of you actually understand how your actions weren't ok, and definitely didn't seem like you were going to change your ways.
To give the benefit of the doubt we kept it a one week ban, hoping you'd play nice once you got back. I sent a message in the discord saying "they have been banned" (or similar), to which you got incredibly upset at me for using "they", even though that's totally normal English phrasing, and I didn't even know your gender. You then proceeded to say pronouns are stupid and mocked them.
As Gabbage is a safe space for the LGBTQ+ we decided it was best to give you a longer term ban of 5 years. Although we want people to learn about LGBTQ+ from Gabbage, we also want it to be safe for other players, and with the way you were constantly being antagonistic with anti-lgbt mocking, we decided on the ban.
After that you then joined back on an alt account, and then started trying to 1v1 other players in the discord and in-game, immediately. Trying to single out one of the players who had reported you in the first place.
I'm sorry but we did hear you out, we were going to let you back after 1 week, but you kept proving to us that you don't belong on Gabbage.
Hopefully in 5 years you'll have grown up a bit and realize what you were doing was wrong and can be an actual part of the Gabbage community.
haven't played for too long but everyones very friendly and welcoming and if you ever have a question or just want to say the most random of things people will respond in the silliest of way (in the best of ways)
